NOTICE OF PUBLIC ADVERTISEMENT OF A

DRAFT LOCAL PLANNING POLICY – CP513 STRATEGIC WATER TANKS FOR FIRE FIGHTING PURPOSES IN NON-RETICULATED AREAS

Notice is hereby given that the Shire of Dardanup has prepared a Draft Local Planning Policy (LPP) CP513 -Strategic Water Tanks For Fire Fighting Purposes In Non-Reticulated Areas for the purposes of providing developers direction on when the Shire will require strategic water tanks to meet Element 4 of the Guidelines for Planning in Bushfire Prone Areas or require individual water tanks to be supplied on the lot.

 

The objectives of this Policy are to:

  • Promote a well-developed network of strategic water tanks for firefighting within the Shire.
  • Ensure that water supply within a locality is sufficient to cater for an increasing population when a subdivision application or Local Structure Plan is proposed.
  • Ensure the impact of a bushfire on lives, homes and infrastructure within a locality is managed by the provision of an adequate supply of water being made available for firefighting purposes.

 

The policy will be re-advertised for a period of 21 days due to an administrative error identified during the community consultation process. This re-advertisement is being conducted in accordance with the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015.

 

The policy may be viewed at the Shire Office and Library at 3 Little Street, Dardanup and the Eaton Administration Centre and Eaton Communbity Library at 1 Council Drive, Eaton or on the Shire’s website at the following address: https://www.dardanup.wa.gov.au/publicnotices/

 

Submissions may be made on the proposal in the period ending 4.00pm on Thursday, 18th April 2025. Comments on the proposal may be submitted to the local government in writing on or before that day.

 

Comments on the proposal should be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer and submitted in writing to the Chief Executive Officer, Shire of Dardanup, PO Box 7016, EATON  WA  6232 or via email to submissions@dardanup.wa.gov.au.

 

When making a submission please be aware that your name and address details may be included in a Council report which is available to the public. Please also note that submissions may be subject to applications for access under the Freedom of Information Act 1992.
