Building Approvals
What must I do once my building is complete?
The ‘Builder’ on your Building Permit must submit a Notice of Completion (BA 7 form) within 7 days of the project completion.
It is the responsibility of the ‘Builder’ to ensure the work is completed in accordance with the plans and specifications approved by the Certificate of Design Compliance and detailed in the Building Permit.
Inspections & Tests
Building permits issued for Class 1 and 10 buildings don’t require proof of inspections and tests or other supporting documents with a Notice of Completion (BA7) unless listed as a condition on the Building Permit.
Building Permits issued for Class 2 to 9 buildings are required to have copies of inspections and tests, other supporting construction documents including any listed as a condition on the Building Permit.
Class 2 to 9 buildings are also required to have an Occupancy Permit issued prior to the building being occupied. This can be done by lodging an Application for Occupancy Permit together with a certified Certificate of Building or Construction Compliance at the time of presenting a Notice of completion.
Other approvals
Other Approvals (or prescribed approvals) are those that may apply to your proposed building work and may be outside the process of certification by the building surveyor.
These approvals, when required, form part of the CDC and typically include Planning, Health, and any other approvals required by the Local Government under other legislation.
