Shire of Dardanup Library Services are bringing you exciting new programs that will have children loving their library and begging to return every week.
Wigglers and Jigglers
Shire of Dardanup Library Services has an exciting range of early learning programs for all pre-school age children. Presented by the team at Jo Jingles, these exciting music and movement programs are featured regularly at both libraries and will have kids jumping, dancing, and learning. Tiny Wigglers (0-18 month olds)
Every Tuesday 10:30am – 11:00am
Little Jigglers (3-5 year olds)
Every Tuesday 9:30am – 10:15am

Toddler Time
Our Toddler Time sessions run each Thursday at Eaton Community Library. It has been created for children aged 5 years and under to stimulate the imagination and develop creativity and literacy. Each session features stories and nursery rhymes designed to build a love of reading and develop social skills in a fun and relaxed environment. Check our calendar for further details.
Toddler Time: A Fun Way to Nurture Your Child's Learning and Imagination. This interactive Storytime and Rhymes session helps to engage your child's imagination and encourage a lifelong love of reading. Each week is themed with a corresponding craft activity making for a morning of fun.
Better Beginnings
Better Beginnings is a Western Australian family literacy program that connects families with books through free reading packs. Our goal is to inspire a love of literacy and learning for all WA children by encouraging families to read, talk, sing, write and play with their child every day.
Better Beginnings has been developed by State Library of WA and provides information on literacy, reading and free reading packs for families, carers, child health nurses and teachers.
Better Beginnings for Babies
The Better Beginnings program provides every baby in Western Australia with a free reading pack.
Your yellow reading pack includes:

- A board book (a special gift from Shire of Dardanup)
- A nursery rhyme poster
- A booklet with tips for reading with your baby
- Nursery Rhymes for Every Day booklet and CD

Better Beginnings for Toddlers
Better Beginnings provides every two-year-old child in Western Australia a free reading pack.
Your orange reading pack includes:

- A rhyming picture book
- A nursery rhyme CD and booklet with lots of fun rhymes to share
- A nursery rhyme puzzle magnet

Better Beginnings for Kindy
Better Beginnings provides every Kindergarten aged child with a free reading pack.
Your green reading pack includes:

- A beautiful Australian children’s book
- A fun activity to accompany the book
- An information booklet for parents / caregivers about books and reading.
Shire of Dardanup Library Services distributes kindergarten reading packs to each of the schools in the area. If your child is home-schooled, you can contact us to arrange your free reading packs.
Better Beginnings for Indigenous Families
The Little Fulla Yarns reading pack was launched in November 2021 and aims to support Aboriginal families in remote communities to Read, Yarn, Sing, Draw and Play.
The Little Fulla Yarns backpack includes:

- Three books by Aboriginal Australian authors
- Fun activities to support families to share each of the books
- An alphabet chart
- Puppets and clapping sticks for telling stories and singing
- An information flyer for families
