The Shire of Dardanup is seeking Registrations of Interest (ROI) from experienced contractors to invest in its Waterloo Industrial Precinct, a hub for innovations and growth.

Shire President Cr Tyrrell Gardiner highlighted the strategic importance of the precinct, calling it a prime investment opportunity.

Cr Gardiner said Council is seeking suitably qualified and experienced contractors to design, build, own, and operate advanced manufacturing facilities and an Open Access Intermodal Terminal at Lot 100 Martin Pelusey Road, Waterloo.

“These projects are part of the Shire’s ambitious vision for the Waterloo Industrial Precinct (lots 100 and 101), a transformative hub for innovation and economic growth in the South West,” Cr Gardiner said.

“With 1,356 hectares of developable land just 10 km from Bunbury Port, the Waterloo Industrial Precinct offers unparalleled business connectivity.

“It’s perfectly positioned south of the future Wanju Estate, which will provide 20,000 new homes by 2050, creating a dynamic synergy between workforce and industry.”

Cr Gardiner said the precinct is expected to generate 4,000 new jobs, driving regional growth and positioning the South West as a leader in advanced manufacturing and sustainable innovation.

Key projects driving the future:

  1. Intermodal Terminal (IMT): Enhances freight movement and logistics, seamlessly connecting industries to key markets.

  2. Innovation and Advanced Manufacturing Hub:
  • Green Energy: Battery production and recycling.
  • Metal Manufacturing: Supporting the mining, engineering, and broader industrial sectors.
  • Timber Manufacturing: Producing modular housing to supply the Wanju Estate.
  1. Hydrogen Refuelling Facility: Providing sustainable fuel solutions for a cleaner transport sector.

  2. Ultra-Fast Charging Station: Supporting electric fleets and hydrogen-powered trains for zero-emission logistics.

“These projects are a game-changer for our region,” Cr Gardiner said.

“They represent the perfect blend of innovation, sustainability, and economic growth. The Waterloo Industrial Precinct will not only attract global investment but also cement the South West’s position as a leader in sustainable industry.

“The Waterloo Industrial Precinct is more than just a project; it’s a vision for a prosperous, innovative, and sustainable future for the South West.

“We look forward to partnering with visionary contractors who share our commitment to building a better tomorrow.”
