The Shire of Dardanup will undertake essential tree maintenance outside its Dardanup offices in the next month.

Following advice from an arborist, the Shire will conduct a careful crown clean and weight reduction of large gum trees to mitigate risks associated with falling branches.

Shire President Cr Tyrrell Gardiner emphasised the importance of prioritising safety.

"The safety of our community and visitors is paramount. After incidents of branches falling, we sought expert advice, which recommended necessary maintenance to ensure the trees remain safe and healthy,” Cr Gardiner said.

"We understand the attachment our community has to these trees, they are striking gums and have stood tall in our community for a long time.

"Rest assured, the work will be conducted with sensitivity to preserve the natural beauty of our surroundings while enhancing safety."

Cr Gardiner said the Shire’s Parks and Environment team plays an active role in maintaining the area, regularly cleaning the office frontage during this time of year due to bark shed by the eucalypts.
