Last week the Shire of Dardanup celebrated a special milestone with 12 conferees taking the oath, marking the final step in their journey to becoming Australian citizens.

Our new citizens come from diverse backgrounds, including New Zealand, Zimbabwe, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, and Ghana, bringing with them their rich cultures and unique stories.

Shire President Cr Tyrrell Gardiner and Deputy President Cr Ellen Lilly officially welcomed the new citizens, who also heard from The Hon Nola Marino MP, Federal Member for the Forrest Electorate, who shared her personal connection to our local community.

Ms Marino delivered a special message on behalf of The Hon Tony Burke MP, Minister for Home Affairs, Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, Minister for Cyber Security, Minister for the Arts, and Leader of the House.

Jodie Hanns MLA, Local Member for Collie-Preston, also joined us, offering a warm welcome and sharing her own Irish heritage and ties to our community.

Congratulations to all our new citizens and welcome to the Shire of Dardanup.
