As summer approaches, the Shire of Dardanup is entering its annual Restricted Burning Period on Saturday, 2 November.
This important safety measure will be in place until 15 December, when the Prohibited Burning Period kicks in.
You WILL need a fire permit to:
- Light a bonfire
- Burn garden waste
- Clear pasture through burning
- Burn private bushland.
You’ll need a permit from your local Fire Control Officer. Here’s who to contact based on your area:

You DON'T Need a Permit For: You’re free to fire up:
- Outdoor barbeques
- Pizza ovens
- Fire pits
Just remember to clear the surrounding area of flammable materials to prevent stray embers from igniting nearby vegetation.
Campfire Restrictions in Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions-Controlled Areas If you’re camping in areas managed by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), additional rules may apply, including limitations on campfire timing and use of designated fire pits.
