The Opportunity:

  • 5 Year Full-time Performance Based Contract
  • Level 10 –Total Salary Package up to a value of $165,000 per annum including cash component, superannuation and full private use of a council vehicle*
  • Located at our Eaton Administration Centre

We are seeking a seasoned Manager of Financial Services to join the team at the Shire of Dardanup. This full-time role will be based at our brand-new Administration Centre in Eaton and is a crucial position within our local government organisation. As the Manager of Financial Services, you will be responsible for overseeing the Shire's financial operations, ensuring sound financial management and compliance with all relevant regulations.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage the Shire's financial planning, budgeting, and reporting processes
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and statutory returns
  • Ensure the Shire's compliance with all relevant financial legislation and regulations
  • Provide strategic financial advice to the executive team and elected Council
  • Lead and manage the finance team, fostering a positive and productive work environment
  • Implement and maintain effective financial systems and controls
  • Collaborate with other departments to support the Shire's overall objectives

What we're looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Proven experience in a senior financial management role, preferably within local government
  • Extensive knowledge of financial management principles, practices, and regulations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong strategic and leadership abilities, with the ability to manage a team
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and delivering best-practice financial management
