The Opportunity: 

  • Permanent Full-Time role
  • Level 6 - Salary Range $83,016 - $88,890 per annum depending upon qualifications & experience*
  • Located at our Eaton Administration Centre

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Planning Officer with compliance experience to join our Development Services team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the Shire's compliance with local government regulations and planning frameworks as well as providing guidance and support to enforce the Shire’s development compliance obligations. You will be responsible for:

  • Assessing development applications and making recommendations to management
  • Monitoring and enforcing compliance with local planning schemes, policies and regulations
  • Investigating and responding to development compliance related matters and prosecutions across the Shire, in a proactive and effective manner
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to the community, developers and other stakeholders on planning and compliance matters
  • Preparing reports, correspondence and other documentation related to planning and compliance activities
  • Collaborating with various internal departments and external agencies to coordinate planning and compliance efforts

You will require tertiary qualifications in Town Planning as well as demonstrated knowledge of local government planning legislation, policies and processes.  The core requirements of this role include a demonstrated ability to interpret legislation and regulations, along with highly developed communication skills to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
