Dowdells Line upgrade to widen road to start 3 May

The Shire of Dardanup will undertake road works to upgrade Dowdells Line Road from Friday, 3 May, following the recent opening of the new Discovery Road by the South West Gateway Alliance.

Shire President Cr Tyrrell Gardiner said the entire road closure will allow for improvement works to widen Dowdells Line, with the road only open to local traffic.

Cr Gardiner emphasised the necessity of these upgrades, particularly given the heightened usage of Dowdells Line over the past two years, stemming from the Bunbury Outer Ring Road works.

“The Dowdells Line road works are expected to take about three weeks, and will only start once the new Discovery Road is opened,” Cr Gardiner said.

"We appreciate everyone’s patience with the road works, which has been consistent for many during these past few years.

“We understand the Dowdells Line road works may come as short notice to some, but we need to make sure the new Discovery Road opens before our works can start.

“As a shire we are committed to enhancing the infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of our community and to ensure safe and efficient travel for all residents and visitors.”

Cr Gardiner urged all road users to adhere to speed limits and signage to ensure safety for everyone on the roads.
